So, I think this post may shock you. This super sweet, delicious smoothie is totally sugar free! I’m pretty sure that’s a first for me. Not a drop of agave, nothing. All you taste is pure, natural PB&J goodness, packed with protein, fiber and natural sweetness.
When we got back from skiing one afternoon, I was wiped. We’d gotten a late start, but we’d skied really hard and then it was that weird hour when it’s too late for lunch but you don’t want to spoil your dinner. Normally, I would have no qualms about eating… and then just eating again. I mean, skiing burns tons of calories, right? But, we had a romantic post-Valentine’s night of lasagna and House of Cards planned, and I really didn’t want to start off full. Starting of full meant only one serving of lasagna, and that would just not do during our little Kevin Spacey marathon. But whoa starving!, I needed to eat something. So I made this smoothie and it was just the right amount of filling and hydrating after working so hard, plus the protein and natural sugars (!!!) perked me right up.
It would also make a great quick breakfast on the run – through everything in your blender, pour and go! (I’m a big stickler about never skipping breakfast. It’s the worst thing you can do for a diet, and just bad for your metabolism in general.) Even crazier? Since I want to slim down for spring (nothing crazy, just losing a little winter insulation) I may substitute this as a desert! Maybe I’m not a sugar addict after all…. (maybe?)
