I cannot tell a lie. I was very nervous about how this bread would turn out. First, because I’d never made a braided brioche, and here I am attempting my own eggless version. With olive oil. And a chocolate swirl. So many things could have gone wrong! But oh man – nothing did. This bread is rich and fluffy like a brioche should be, and the chocolate swirl is the perfect compliment to the not too sweet loaf. Gahhhh. So good.
Since I have fallen of my running / fitness plan for the last 10 days – and I have a Tough Mudder coming up in October – my timing on making this decadent but delicious treat isn’t great. (I’m going to start running again tomorrow, I promise!!!) My secret weapon? I’m planning on sharing some with my coworkers and friends. It make a great breakfast with some coffee or a nice after lunch snack. I will say though – the Lavender Blackberry Butter I made last week to pair with this? It’s too rich with it. This is definitely a stand alone bread!!
