I’m in the middle of a serious smoothie addiction, and I might need some help! You see, I’m at the tail end of my wedding “diet”, (you know, the one where I never actually lost any weight for my wedding day), and the one healthy thing I have consistently done for myself: This smoothie! But before we get to far into that I will say – I have finally really started trying to get into shape! I’m going to the gym (five times a week!) and I have to say, it’s a lot more effective that running – or at least how I was running! Plus I’ve started turning these smoothies into post workout / fuel and recovery, by adding some protein powder.
And I think it’s working! This weekend was my bridal shower (more on that tomorrow!) and I think I looked pretty good, don’t you think? It’s hard work – but the easiest part really is this smoothie. It’s like a delicious chocolate breakfast treat. And when you are working out, and working hard, you deserve a treat and chocolate – so why not combine them both! And it’s so easy to make. Oh did I mention – just 6 ingredients? Seriously simple, and fast that there is no reason not to have a healthy breakfast. (Except for cleaning the blender – I hate that part!)
The great thing about this smoothie is that it really tastes chocolately. Not like kale, and not even really like blueberries, but more like a chocolate shake. The banana and blueberries sweeten it without adding any sugar – and the blueberries totally enhance the chocolate flavor without having to add a lot of cocoa powder.
Some Most days when I come back from the gym I feel like I should get reward for getting up so early and working so hard (not gonna lie, it’s not fun). But at the same time who wants to ruin all that hard work? Not me! This smoothie is the perfect compromise. Plus I’m getting a full serving of kale in it – so it’s chock full of calcium and protein. So much winning!
Tomorrow I plan to share a recap of my bridal shower (and tell you about some of the cooking must haves that I was lucky enough to receive!). In the mean time, make this smoothie for yourself, enjoy some chocolate, and feel good knowing you just ate something awesome for your body. Today is a good day!
