So we finally pulled the trigger! No we didn’t elope, we ordered our Save The Dates! (And you all are actually getting a sneak preview before our guests, because they are being mailed out tomorrow!) Now, I know Save The Dates are supposed to go out 6 months before the wedding, and we’ve already passed the 5 month mark – but better late the never, right? Ultimately we went with the online company Minted, and they were hands down our first choice. Here’s why: First, we found a number of designs we really liked, and chose Midnight Vineyard because it was simple, we liked the color scheme, and it reminded us of the lights that are strung across the ceiling of our venue.
Second – the price can’t be beat. Seriously. I know people who spend a fortune on invitations and save the dates and I don’t get it. They aren’t keepsakes, and we are lucky enough now for their to be affordable alternatives out there!
Third: There was the option for our envelopes to be pre-addressed. We are clearly a little lazy about this whole wedding planning thing (even Type A super planner me doesn’t want to go nuts over this), and I was seriously dreading having to address all of these envelopes. Ugh. The fact that for a small surcharge they came pre-printed with both the delivery and return addresses made my day – and while I’m normally pretty frugal, this was something I definitely was going to spend money on.
Fourth: The print we loved came in magnet form! I’ve always loved STD magnets – are these considered cheesy? I hope not – and they really weren’t that much more money. Plus, after a little research I found out that it didn’t cost anything extra to mail them, in spite of the extra weight.
Although Joe didn’t seem nearly as excited about them as I was – he did ask if we got to keep one, and suggested we stick it to the fridge – which I promptly did! Something about mailing Save The Dates is making this seem much more real and exciting – and reminding me of everything I still have to do! (Menu cards, table runners and makeup artists, oh my!)
What were your experiences like sending out save the dates? Did you send them on time? Love what you picked? Let me know!
