So Joe and I have many things in common. These thing include a love of skiing and food, our sense of humor, Oreo – to name a few. Something we don’t have in common? Football. He loves it, and I don’t get it. Literally. I understand nothing about the game, and his endearing attempts to teach me have proved fruitless. However, we each support each other’s interests, so come Sundays, I happily (ok, unhappily) send him off to watch football, either at the game or at a bar with his friends. I usually spend Sundays cooking, food blogging and watching Big Bang Theory (my idea of heaven!)
But sometimes I tire of being a football widow. So this past Sunday I invited a bunch of friends over to watch football with us, hang out, and eat good food. The first thing I served? These pumpkin potstickers. Confession time: I ate at least 8 before company came over. They are delicious, crispy, savory, sweet and totally addicting.
Now, I made a totally rookie move with this blog post. I made the first batch of potstickers before my guests came, and tasted them to make sure they came out as planned – Yes! Delish! But then I got distracted, and ran to the grocery store to get ingredients for my variation on Stuffed Pumpkin, and then next thing I knew, I was behind schedule. I finished frying the potstickers as my guests arrived, and suddenly had to rush to photograph them.
What picture did I forget to take? The inside. So instead I’ll have to tell you, that it looks exactly as you expect, and comes out of the frying pan piping hot (so be careful!). The sage honey sauce cools them down a bit, and next time I make them I want to emulsify the sauce so the sage is completely blended in.These aren’t my healthiest recipe ever – but sometimes you just need a cheat day! In fact, I rarely indulge in fried foods – maybe a few times a year? – but if I’m going to I’d rather the ingredients be healthy like pumpkins, apples and raisins (or just apples and raisins!). Plus I’m trying to subscribe to that everything in moderation – which works great for maintaining weight, but is a little tougher when it comes to weight loss, if I’m just going to be honest.
Either way this weekend is going to be a busy one here in the Kitchen – i’ve got a big announcement coming up, a lot of cooking, and some more pesky studying for an exam I need to take to be admitted to the NY State Bar. Ugh. It may not be the most glamorous weekend (we are talking sweat pants all the way baby) but there will still be plenty of sneak previews, food pics and Oreo silliness (he needs a bath!) so don’t forget to follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest!
