In the immortal words of Brittany: You gotta work!
If you follow this blog you know that for the last few months I’ve been really trying to lose weight. And I’ve been pretty insistent that it has nothing to do with my wedding (it started even before I got engaged!!) Well then why am I posting about it in my Wedding section? Because of maintenance.
I recently fell off the fitness wagon for about 3 weeks. Up until that point I had made it about halfway to my ultimate fitness goals. But then… 3 weeks of no running. And – if you are like me – if I’m not working out regularly, I’m not eating as well as I should be for weight loss. Talk about a vicious cycle. So in those 3 weeks, I undid about 25%-30% of the work I had accomplished.
This has ultimately made me realized that even if I accomplish my fitness goals before the wedding (which I hope I do), if I don’t regularly work out, I won’t maintain what I accomplished – which would stink in general and for the wedding. I mean, I’m not going to lie: I do want to look good! The tough part? How am I going to do that….
So this morning, I finally got off my butt, and started running again. Getting out of bed extra early to run this morning? Not easy, but I knew I had to. And I know I have to, consistently, for a long, looooong time. So, here’s my plan, and I’m hoping you will join me! I’m going to start #100DaysOfFallFit to motivate me. I find that when I set a weight, or size goal I get discouraged when it starts taking long (thanks, aging metabolism.) But when I set a time goal, I want to see it through.
For the next 12 weeks I’m going to train for a half marathon, which will get me all the way through my #100DaysOfFallFit, and I will share with you my fitness goals – whether it’s shaving minutes of my running time, or finally squeezing into my skinny jeans (or a wedding dress, you know, whatever.) I figure by the end of this challenge I will be close to my fitness goals and close to wedding ready. I’m using the Nike Plus running app for my phone – which I am a big fan of. It tells me how much to run and when to help prevent injury and fatigue, but maximizing your workout routine.
Whether you have a wedding or not, will you join me? Just tweet or instagram #100DaysOfFallFit and we can reach out fitness goals together! Extra motivation never hurts!
