So as much as I’ve been trying to plan everything, right. this. second. I’m trying to remember to slow down, and enjoy the process. Also, some things you just can’t plan quickly – like flowers. I’m going the DIY route – except for my bouquet – both because I want to save money, and I’m really not looking for anything too complicated. Let’s talk flowers, vases and money saving tips!
So since our space is pretty dramatic, I want to go a very simple and classic route and just have white flowers with some greenery, and white tablecloths. I want to include my favorite flowers: Peonies, roses and hydrangeas. Now, I’m lucky to be getting married in June – peonies will be in season! (They are absolutely my favorite flower, ever.) I also want to include white roses because you just can’t get any more classic and elegant than that. The one flower I’m on the fence with is the hydrangea. It’s super pretty, but oh man, I remember from my photoshoot days: this is a temperamental flower. It wilts with the teensiest bit of heat, and trust me, a droopy hydrangea is not pretty. I’m sort of hedging my bets that early June won’t be so hot for this to happen. We will see.
I’m planning on ordering my flowers wholesale from Fifty Flowers, and having them delivered a couple of days early to open – and to make sure the order is right, just in case I need to pick up anything extra. I’m planning on paying a friend of a friend, or maybe someone from my magazine days, to arrange them. Don’t ask me what my plan is if that doesn’t work – or where I’m planning on storing them until the wedding. That’s something to figure out this week!!
Finally, what to put them in??
Since I am doing white flowers and white tablecloths, I wanted to visually break up all that white. I found these plastic lined planters on Etsy, and the size I need? Only 11 bucks!!!
My step for this week is to calculate the foot print of the flower – and then how many I will need per table. Then I’ll order vases, and flowers, and I’ll have another thing to check off the list!
Nest week I’m taking you behind the scenes of my upcoming Brides video shoot, where I will be sharing some of my favorite wedding tips and bridal products!
