It’s the applejack and its the perfect drink to keep you toasty and toasted all night long! It’s got a little but of hot apple cider, a little lemon juice, a little maple syrup and cinnamon. And oh yeah – a wee bit o’ whiskey to keep things festive. Don’t drink? Doesn’t matter – this cocktail tastes awesome even without the whiskey!
I’ve always been a whiskey girl – ever since I saw Renee Russo order a scotch neat in the Thomas Crown Affair and she looked elegant, sophisticated and bad ass all at once. But then I actually tried drinking a scotch neat in a restaurant and it took me an hour to get only half it down. I realized then that I was a whiskey girl who likes her whiskey actually mixed with something, thankyouverymuch.
Now usually I like my whiskey (jack, in particular, hence the name) to be mixed with diet ginger ale. But as soon as fall rolls around, and temperatures drop, I get very, very excited for this drink. I also, I just get really excited for apple cider in general, so there’s that. But this is a cinch to make. I like cooking it in my crockpot on low, though a slow cooker would work too! Bonus: Your kitchen will smell nice!
I hope you have your New Year’s Eve plans all set and are super excited for all that 2014 can bring! In the mean time, remember kiddies – drink responsibly and have a designated driver, always.
