Red Wine Roasted Mushrooms on Garlic Toasts by How Sweet It Is
Remember when I said I had friends over and we served them some appetizers? Well this was what else we served, and they were super yummy. The original recipe is easy and perfect for company, or just to make as a light dinner with wine (we’ve done that a bunch with these too). I added figs because I had some and I thought they went, but How Sweet It Is has some of the most innovative, amazing recipes I’ve ever seen and I highly suggest you spend a couple of hours looking at all their recipes. I definitely hogged these from the company too. I think I need to work on my sharing skills.
Homemade Wheat Bread from Minimalist Baker
I feel like there are certain foods that, if you love to cook, you should at least try to make once. For me, that was bread. I’d tried in the past and always failed, but this recipe from Minimalist Baker solved that problem. It tasted awesome, and worked well as both a base for my membrillo and for sandwiches (I sliced it a little thinner for that.) How does that saying go? I don’t always make bread at home, but when I do I make this one.
General Tso’s Tofu and Broccoli from the Vegan Kitchen
I had seen this recipe a while ago and tucked it away excitedly. I always loved General Tso’s but because it’s so unhealthy I hadn’t ordered it in 5, maybe 7 years? But man, I missed this stuff. And then the other day I was home, and randomly starving and realized I had almost no food in the fridge or pantry. This never, ever happens. What I did have? A quickly yellowing broccoli head and half of a container of tofu left, and I immediately thought of this recipe. It was really good, and Vegan Kitchen definitely had the right idea. I’ll make this again but with a lot more of their yummy sauce.
What did you eat this week that was really good?!
